Canceling Participation? Convert Deposit Into An Advance

Obtaining a business loan and paying the same well in advance usually involves a cancellation fee. This is an essential feature of all business loans and there’s no escaping this regulation. However, should you pay cancellation fees when you cannot participate in an exhibition despite having committed for the same?
You are often required to deposit the registration fees well in advance. In such a scenario, you will automatically end up at a disadvantage when trying to obtain a refund from the organizer. If the organizer is short of cash, chances are high that you will be informed of a new cancellation fee and will be told that you cannot get the entire amount back. You may even be required to provide an additional discount if you want your money back immediately.
The organizers are well within their rights to impose these restrictions if they have retained such an option in the terms and conditions. However, a lot depends on your personal relations as well. You can always request the organizer to consider the money as a deposit for the next exhibition.
If the organization holds frequent business fares and exhibitions, you can always let the money go as a deposit. You may be short of cash but you’ll at least get good value for the money. Further, your participation in another exhibition will be confirmed and you can plan your approach accordingly.
You’ll find that the extra time you have to plan your approach for exhibition helps you make a better impression. Unless you are really short of cash, try considering it as an advance payment so that you don’t lose any money in the process.
